LIES ON A BUDGET

When talking to friends the word selling someone the lie came up a lot. I started thinking that I could play with this idea of selling lies to someone as the visual concept for my work. One of my biggest inspirations was the 2014/15 Fall-Winter Ready to wear Chanel show. During the runway the stage was decorated as a supermarket. I thought introducing the concept of supermarkets into my concept could be a very playful way of incorporating and presenting a series of lies.
I wanted the main poster to have something packed as a way to directly reference the visual motifs of stores. I choose to use a packed set of middle fingers, since in my mind lying can be viewed a lot of times as a disrespectful act towards someone.
Besides the poster I also wanted to have a publication. As mentioned before, at first I wanted to create a guide on how to lie, but I didn’t have that many ideas on how to create guide and make it funny at the same time. Since I went for supermarket themed graphics I remembered the newspapers that supermarkets normally have with coupons and promotions. I wanted to continue the idea of selling you a lie and decided to create a version of those supermarket newspapers.
