One of the first exercises we had to do for Unit 9 was create a trailer for our essay topic. The topic I ended up choosing was ‘Apathy as form of violence in Late Stage Capitalism’. Because of this, I created a quite aggressive looking and sounding trailer. I achieved this by using very fast paced videos and experimental punk rock in the background. I also decided to use the fisheye lens motif, to pass the idea of acting as a spectator rather than taking action. The use of black and white was to create a bigger contrast with the lettering, since my main objective was to appeal for action, so I thought the text should be the main focus. By the end of the trailer the person that appears on the first frames, is no longer there as a way to signify that this person has now changed and decided to ‘get up’.
